What would be the preferred way of creating a report based on a local database, then distributing that report to different locations that all use their own copy of that database?
In other words, if I create a report in my office, how can someone in a different location use the same report on their own database? The structures of the two databases are identical, but the info is different. There is no connection between the two offices, they just need the same reports.

Reports distribution can be achieved by simply copying the .srex files from the repository of the source machine to destination machines...
I would recommend to create Data Source files with the Server Manager, and used it for all of your reports, it will simplify the maintenance, evolution and connection definitions depending on the target database (avoid to define directly Data Sources in reports !)...
To simplify the connection management, you could also decide to create always the same ODBC connection names on all the machines (using ODBC MAnager 32bit), and use it to define your data sources...
Finally the deployment of your reports would be done by file copies...
